LECTURES, RESIDENCIES AND AWARDS:
Barry Anderson will do a residency project at UCross Foundation in Wyoming from March 12 through March 19, 2012 . He will be a visiting artist at Montana State University in Bozeman in the first week of March. This fall Anderson will do a residency at NES Artists in Skagaströnd, Iceland.
John Bankston will be a Visiting Artist at Ox-bow in Saugatuck, MI this summer.
Carolyn Castaño received a mid-career artist award from the California Community Foundation. The announcement was made at a private reception for the winners at Creative Artist Agency on July 19th. The award follows Castaño's recent grant from the City of Los Angeles (C.O.L.A.) Individual Artist Fellowship consisiting of a $10,000 stipend and a recent show at the Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood. Please click link to view the online catalog. Oscar Cueto will do a residency sponsored by FONCA and Salzburger-Kunstverein in Salzburg, Austria from September through December 2012.
John Jurayj has received a Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant. The Pollack-Krasner Foundation's duel criteria for grants are recognizable artistic merit and demonstrable financial need, whether professional, personal or both. The Foundation's mission is to aid, internationally, those individuals who have worked as professional artists over a significant period of time.
Hung Liu has received the SGC International 2011 Award for Lifetime Achievement in Printmaking. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the professional development of printmaking as a fine art. SGC International, formerly the Southern Graphics Council, is a US nonprofit membership organization that advances the field of original prints, drawings, books and hand-made paper.
Dean Monogenis is currently doing an Artist in residence at CCA Andratx in Mallorca, Spain through mid-February.

Barry Anderson is included in an exhibition at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art as part of the brand new projectSCREEN series of solo exhibitions from April 25 through May 27, 2012.
John Bankston is included in 30 Americans at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC through February 12, 2012. The show was organized by the Rubell Colelction where it debuted during the Miami Fairs in 2009. Click link for further information. Bankston is included in the group exhibition Figure Studies: Recent Representational Works on Paper with Ida Applebroog, Jennifer Bornstein, Alejandro Cardenas, Djordje Ozbolt and Tom Reed at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis from January 27 through April 22, 2012. Click link for further information. Bankston is also included in the show Fifty Years of Bay Area Art, The SECA Award at the San Francisco Museum of Modern through April 3, 2012. He will also be included in The Bearden Project at the Studio Museum in Harlem from March 29 through May 27, 2012.
Rebeca Bollinger is part of the exhibition Fifty Year of Bay Area Art, The SECA Award at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art through April 3, 2012. Bollinger will be included in the exhibition Data Deluge curated by Rachel Gugelberger and Reynard Loki at Ballroom Marfa from March 2 through July 29, 2012. Other artists in the show include Jon Brunberg, Jennifer Dalton, Anthony Discenza, Hans Haacke, Scott Hug, Loren Madsen, Michael Najjar, Roberto Pugliese, Anna Von Mertens and Adrien Segal.
Margarita Cabrera is also showing a survey of her work at the El Paso Museum of Art through August 2013. Click link for more information. Both shows will include workshops working with the local communities. Cabrera will also be included in an exhibition entitled Testimonios: 100 Years of Popular Expression at Museo del Barrio in New York from January 31 through May 6, 2012 and Chain Reaction: Artists Consider the Bicycle at the de Saisset Museum in Santa Clara University from April 13 through July 1, 2012. She will also be included in the show Mexicanisimo Through Artist’s Eyes at the San Jose Museum of Art from March 30 through September 23, 2012. Cabrera is currently doing a residency workshop at the McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC that will culminate with an exhibition of the new work from January 27 through March 4, 2012.
Carolyn Castaño is included in a group show entitled Go Tell It on the Mountain curated by Nery Gabriel Lemus at Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles, The show also includes the work of Rev. Ethan Acres, Edgar Arveneaux, Andrea Bowers, Alex Donis, Nery Gabriel Lemus, Nikki Pressley, Erika Rothenberg and Sanjit Sethi.
Oscar Cueto is currently in two group exhibitions in Mexico City including Sexy at Museo de Arte Actual Ex Teresa through February 12, 2012 and Tiempo de sospecha: un ejercicio sobre comunicación mediatica y ejercicios de información at the Museo de Arte Moderno (MAM) through April 8th. Cueto will have a solo show entitled Vuelta at Museo de Arte Actual Ex Teresa in Mexico City from August 30 through October 28, 2012. He will also be included in the group show El incesante ciclo entre idea y acción at the Museo de Arte Alvar y Carrillo Gill (MACG) in Mexico City from February 8 through May 27, 2012.
Cynthia Ona Innis will be included in a group drawing exhibition at the Schick Art Gallery, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY from March 23 through May 6, 2012. Her work is currently being featured in the Rudin Showroom as part of the Winter Market Kickoff in the San Francisco Design District through May 2012. Innis will also have work in the show On View at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley from February 16 through March 31, 2012.
John Jurayj is included in the group exhibition (Space): Constructing the Intangible at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University in Ithaca, NY from April 14 through July 22, 2012.
Charles LaBelle recently showed a group of drawings from the Building Entered series at Number 1 Gallery in Bangkok which closed on January 20, 2012.
Hung Liu is preparing for a survey exhibition of her career with an accompanying catalog at the Oakland Museum of California. The show will open in February 2013 and is being curated by Rene de Guzman. Her work is also included in the exhibition Fifty Years of Bay Area Art, The SECA Award at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art through April 3, 2012.
Brendan Lott will be included in the Contemporary Art Council Artrageous Auction on February 27, 2012 as a fundraiser for the Palm Springs Art Museum.
Dean Monogenis will open a solo show entitled Dream or Memory or Builded Stone at Galleri Xippas in Athens, Greece from February 9-April 28, 2012. Monogenis will also be included in a group exhibition entitled Utopian/Distopian Landscapes at 101 California Street Lobby in San Francisco from February 14 through April 27, 2012.
Robb Putnam has a large format sculpture entitled Stray on view at the Palm Springs Art Museum as a new acquisition to the collection. Putnam will be part of the Contemporary Art Council Artrageous Auction at the Palm Springs Art Museum that takes place on February 27, 2012.
Lisa Solomon will show two large drawings and a new embroidery installation in the show Transcendental Vision at The Independent in Sand City, CA from January 27 through February 26, 2012.
Jil Weinstock is showing a body of work entitled Unwearables as part of the exhibitions program at the LA/Ontario International Airport.
COMMISSIONS:
Freddy Chandra is developing a site-specific commissioned artwork for the newly opened Neiman Marcus department store in Walnut Creek, CA
Cynthia Ona Innis has been awarded a public arts commission by the County of Alameda in Northern California. Selective works by Innis have also been acquired for a new public library in Lafayette, CA and a new US Embassy in Riga, Latvia.
Hung Liu has been awarded a public arts commission at the International Terminal in the San Francisco International Airport. The commission was completed and installed in April 2008. Click link for images.

COMMISSIONS:
Hung Liu and Rebeca Bollinger have been awarded public commissions at the new Oakland International Airport terminal. Liu will present a 160 foot glass panel wall along a pathway with etched imagery of the migration of birds incorporated with regional weather patterns of the Bay Area. Click link for images. Bollinger will combine digital imagery taken in interior and exterior environments throughout the Bay Area on several monitors that will be displayed as a multi channel media wall.
